These terms of service apply to your use of Groupay and our services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Groupay, you agree to these terms of service. If you do not agree with these terms, you should discontinue use of our services immediately.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Groupay. Use of our services is permitted only under these terms.
2. Our Services
Groupay provides a platform for splitting group expenses, including but not limited to:
- Creating and managing groups
- Adding and splitting expenses
- Calculating settlements between group members
- Integration with payment services
- Notifications and reminders
3. Account and Registration
3.1 Registration
To use Groupay, you must create an account. You are required to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure
- All activities that occur under your account
- Immediately reporting unauthorized use
3.3 One Account Per Person
Each account is personal and may not be shared. You may only create one account, unless you have explicit permission from Groupay.
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 Permitted Activities
You may use our platform for:
- Fairly splitting legitimate group expenses
- Tracking expenses with family, friends, or roommates
- Facilitating payments in group settings
4.2 Prohibited Activities
It is expressly forbidden to:
- Add fraudulent or misleading expenses
- Use the platform for commercial purposes without permission
- Misuse other users' personal data
- Use the platform for illegal activities
- Circumvent technical security measures
- Distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content
5. Privacy and Data
Processing of your personal data is conducted in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection regulations (GDPR).
5.1 Data Collection
We only collect data necessary for our service to function:
- Account information (name, email)
- Expense data and group information
- Technical data for service improvement
5.2 Data Sharing
Expense data is only shared within relevant groups. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
6. Payments and Subscriptions
6.1 Free Use
Groupay offers a free version with limited functionality. This may be changed or terminated at any time.
6.2 Premium Subscriptions
For premium features, the following terms apply:
- Subscriptions automatically renew
- Prices may change with 30 days notice
- Cancellation possible up to 24 hours before renewal
- No refunds for partially used periods
6.3 Payment Methods
Payments are processed by trusted external payment providers. Groupay does not store credit card or bank details.
7. Liability
7.1 Limitation of Liability
Groupay cannot be held liable for:
- Financial disputes between users
- Unpaid debts within groups
- Technical failures or interruptions
- Data loss due to external causes
- Indirect or consequential damages
7.2 User Responsibility
Users are responsible for:
- Accuracy of entered expense data
- Handling payments to other group members
- Resolving disputes within groups
- Complying with these terms of service
8. Termination
8.1 By User
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting our customer service or through your account settings.
8.2 By Groupay
We reserve the right to terminate accounts for:
- Violation of these terms of service
- Fraudulent or illegal use
- Non-payment of owed amounts
- Inactivity for more than 2 years
8.3 Effects of Termination
After account termination:
- You lose access to all data and features
- Your data will be deleted within 30 days (unless legally required otherwise)
- Existing payment obligations remain in effect
9. Changes
Groupay reserves the right to modify these terms of service. Changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email or notification in the application.
Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms. If you do not agree with changes, you may terminate your account.
10. Governing Law
These terms of service are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
For consumers within the European Union, additional consumer protection rules apply in accordance with local legislation.
